The primary purpose of the GenServe organization is to provide
maintenance services on standby and prime power systems. In this
role the company is often called on to assist in emergency situations.
Past events have included the 9/11 rescue and recovery and the
wide spread east coast blackout. Currently, the dedicated staff
is assisting with the aftermath of hurricane Katrina. We were contacted
by a vendor we deal with GE Energy Rentals and an existing customer
JP Morgan Chase to provide personnel to support equipment they
have in hurricane zone.
JP Morgan Chase
Technicians Jack Danahy and James
Chianese were dispatched on
9/9/05 to Baton Rouge. They drove their trucks along with
sundries, tools and food if necessary to Baton Rouge. Their
assignment was to work with Chase personnel for the purpose of
repairing and maintaining stand by generators for local branches.
Many of the local branches were not operational and depended entirely
on stand by generators. In some cases, the generator was
completely submerged and our guys had the task getting it operational.
They remain in this location and in this capacity as of the writing
of this FYI.

GE sent down upwards of 300 pieces of
equipment to the Louisiana/Alabama area. They requested 6
technicians for the purpose of maintaining this equipment and repairing
if necessary. Three technicians were sent from the Bayshore
office, Steve Beovich, Nar Bharat and Richard
Anson, as well as,
three technicians from the West Berlin location, Richard
Shellam, Howard Neide and Chuck Martin. The technicians were dispatched
in groups of two to Mobile, AL, Gulf Port, AL and Baton Rouge LA.
and remain there to this day.
In all instances, participation was on a voluntary basis. These
guys didn't hesitate to go. We're not sure how long they will be
down there, but all have agreed to stay at least a month if necessary.
If need continues, we would swap out personnel.
I know everyone will join me and giving all involved a grateful “Thank
You” for all of these efforts.
